Edward Bell, PharmD, BCPS
Edward Bell, PharmD, BCPS, is a pharmacist and has been specializing in pediatric pharmacy for 30 years. Dr. Bell is a Professor of Pharmacy Practice at Drake University of College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences in Des Moines, Iowa. He also maintains a clinical pharmacy practice at Blank Children’s Health Center and works with pediatricians and pediatric nurses on a daily basis, helping to ensure that infants, children, and adolescents receive the most appropriate medicines.
Dr. Bell received his Bachelor of Pharmacy and Doctor of Pharmacy degrees from the University of Maryland, and received additional training from a pediatric pharmacy residency program at the University of Nebraska. He is board certified in pharmacotherapy from the Board of Pharmacy Specialties, and is a licensed pharmacist in the state of Iowa.
Dr. Bell has been teaching pharmacy students about the safe and effective use of medicines in infants and children for 30 years. He has written 2 books for parents, grandparents, and teachers, about using medicines safely and effectively, with the most recent book titled, Children’s Medicines: What Every Parent, Grandparent, and Teacher Needs to Know (A Johns Hopkins Press Health Book, 2017). Dr. Bell also writes a regular column, Pharmacology Consult, for the national publication Infectious Diseases in Children, a news journal for pediatricians (Slack Inc.).
